Discipleship Moment

ALL-IN…FOR CHRIST - A crowd had gathered (Luke 14:25). Jesus seized the moment. His message was bold and challenging to those seekers that day—"Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” (v.27) The implication was clear. This was a call from Christ for “all-in” discipleship. True followers put “all” on the line for the sake of Christ. Three elements were/are essential (in the footsteps of Christ)—Sacrifice . .. . Submission . . . and Suffering. These are the three “S’s” that the Christ’s cross exemplifies.

Time may have changed, but Christ’s expectations have not. The cost is not too high when compared to Christ and His cross, and the gains for us—forgiveness and salvation. Many are the distractions today that can stand in the way of such a passionate commitment. Christ understands . . . yet His call remains the same.

NOW is the time to decide where you stand for Christ.

Come and Discover a Journey Team

We have fun together, we pray, we learn, we share concerns, we talk about issues from a Christian viewpoint, we have moments of great discovery. We care for each other and grow together as Christians. If you are interested, contact Leslie H. or Brian H. for more information.

Opportunities to Serve at LICL

  • The adult handbells are happy to be ringing again this year, and we are looking for new ringers.

If you read music, fantastic, but if you don't read music and have always wanted to learn, please join us. If you can count to four, you will be perfect for any of our ringing positions.

We will be meeting on Monday afternoons from 4:30-5:30.
Please email Anna H. if you are interested <<eMail>>.

  • We are blessed to have a wonderful choir. Their presence enhances our worship and helps our congregation be warm and welcoming to all who worship.

We’ve also been blessed to have our choir led by Kathy Taylor and accompanied by Annie Taylor-Scott since 2019. They’ve done an excellent job, and we praise and thank God in gratefulness for their leadership in the choir.

As they step into another role here at Life in Christ, we need a choir director and an accompanist. If you would be able to help in either of these positions, please contact Laura at EMAIL ME.

Thank you so much for your partnership in ministry!

  • Ushers needed for all services - please contact the office for more information.

  • We are still looking for two teams for the 11:00 AM services. If you are interested in helping with banners, please let them know. Cathy D. will provide one-on-one training for any new people and if anyone needs a refresher course. Procedures regarding the wine, wafers, and linens have also been provided. Please go to Leslie H. or Cathy D. with any questions or concerns.

  • There are a few openings in our greeter's schedule for the 4th week of each month that need to be filled.

    The openings are as follows:
One Team Leader for the 11:00 service; 1 or 2 greeters each for the 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 services.

This is a good way to get to know other members of the congregation.

Contact Linda H. for this opportunity.

  • If you are in 4th Grade or higher and can assist with services during the summer or the rest of the year, please contact Nancy J. at (623) 977-7220. Your help is appreciated and an important part of the worship service.

Opportunities to Serve in the Community

  • Care Packages
We are looking for active-duty service men and women. We would like to send care packages to them. Please provide names and addresses to Deacon Gale C. so we can send them a package.

  • Donate books and magazines to the VA Hospital. Please put these in the boxes by the Fellowship Hall. Thank you for your help with this cause.

Thrivent Action Team Grants

Are you a Thrivent member looking for a way to use your Thrivent action team grant(s)? Life in Christ would be blessed by your grant. Here are a few ideas of how your grant could be used here at church:

  • Sunday School - Educational supplies

  • Camp ALOMA repairs/update projects

  • Dinner for Recovery Group - Food items for a dinner (help support our friends as they engage in sobriety)

Please, contact Megan Crume if you need more information or if you need help writing a grant. Megan would be happy to help in any way!

The Fellowship Committee is looking for 2 leaders. If you are interested, please contact Heather or Shelley, and they are willing to give a training session to those interested. Thank you!
